01 Hoppers

Hoppers (เถ†เถดเทŠเถด) can be called a very delicious food typical of Sri Lankan society. It has different types like  Plain hoppers, egg hoppers, pani appa.  There is no place in any city or street in Sri Lanka where this dish is not prepared.  Many Sri Lankans and foreigners are keen to have this delicious dish.  When you think of an egg hopper with a delightful and beautiful shape, an egg is broken into the middle of the hopper and topped with salt, pepper, chili powder, etc.  This breakfast served with Pol Sambola, Chilli Sauce, and Chutney is one of the must-have street foods in Sri Lanka.


02 Koththu



Kottu, which has a very special balance of flavors, is delicious food that occupies a central place in the list of street food in Sri Lanka. It is made from Godamba roti, mixed with small pieces of roti, strips of Vegetables, Spices, Eggs, and Meat. There are various types of kottu in Sri Lanka. Egg kottu, Chicken kottu, Vegetable kottu, Cheese kottu, Hopper kottu, Dolphin kottu are good examples of them.  Cheese kottu is the most popular among the people. Its taste will make you go crazy. Served hot with masala sauce or any other gravy mix, this kottu will make you crave it even in memory.  Kottu can be described as a portion of delicious and attractive food that is made in abundance in the street markets of Sri Lanka from evening to night.


03 Pickles (เถ…เถ เทŠเถ เทเถปเท”)



Even when I remember pickles, my mouth waters.  Pickles are made by using ingredients such as unripe fruits, vegetables, fish, or meat in the right proportion of onion, sugar, and seasoned vinegar. These are very popular snacks during travelers' travels.  Also, this dish is a popular street food that can be easily bought in any city in Sri Lanka.


04 Samosa



Samosa is a common street food found everywhere in Sri Lanka.  A mixture of different spices, vegetables, and meats is used in the doughy roti flakes.  It tastes very delicious.  No other food has given me as much healing as enjoying a cup of tea with this food in every way.


05 Isso vada


 

Isso Vada is a spicy lentil cake stuffed or topped with prawns. This finger food/snack has a lot of flavors and can often be found in street food stalls with street vendors coming out after 6 pm. The crunch of the vada and the aroma of the seafood make it the best you will ever taste!
